PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The role of the Senior Technical Manager is to ensure Pizza Hut Europe strategically manages raw material and supply chain vendors to ensure we are the #1 choice of all Pizza eaters! The ambition of the role is to make “Trust in Every Bite” a reality for all Pizza Hut customers across the region. Key will be the ability not just to assure quality, safety and legality of products and processes, but the ability to influence and align franchisees, supply chain partners and wider business stakeholders in order to drive strategic category development. The Senior Technical Manager leads the team of supply chain focused Technical Managers and is responsible for ensuring that all products and vendors (serving >1400 Huts, across 26 countries) are suitably approved and compliant with all relevant regulations, policies and standards.

JOB FUNCTIONS

People and Culture (20%)

·         Develop Food Safety talent within the team and wider franchise community

·         Be a leader in driving our “Trust in Every Bite” culture across the region

 

Supplier Food Safety and Quality Assurance (30%) - Monitor and drive quality and food safety standards and supplier performance across the supply base and through the complete supply chain by:

·         Awareness and understanding of current and upcoming regulatory, voluntary and brand requirements

·         Strategic vision for driving product, supplier and supply chain integrity and performance

·         Supplier KPI setting and performance management to deliver against the strategy

·         Drive key elements of the CSR strategy, specifically around nutritional and sourcing policies

·         Leverage key suppliers and industry contacts to effect appropriate Horizon scanning/early warning systems

 

New Product and New Supplier Development (30%)

·         Responsible for all new supplier and product approvals

·         Ensure all products are optimized for operational simplicity

 

Project Management (20%) - Deliver key business projects in a timely and cost efficient manner.

Product improvement and Cost of Sales projects as appropriate

Manages team of 5 direct reports:

•              4 Technical Managers

•              1 Quality Assurance Technologist

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

•              Franchise partners

•              ACE, SCM, NPD, OPS, Brand

•              Suppliers, industry and academia

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED

Education:

·         Degree in Food Science/Food Technology or related subject required

 

Experience:

·         Technical management experience in diverse product categories gained within Food Manufacturing, Retail or Food Service/QSR

·         Persuasive with highly developed communication and influencing skills

·         Ability to conceive and deliver strategic objectives relating to food safety and quality

·         Ability to influence and align senior management stakeholders within Pizza Hut Europe and the Franchise community on technically complex food safety related matters is essential
